Addressing the moisture problem matters alongside cleanup. A referral call does not identify a mold species, establish a health risk or replace an on-site assessment.
Explain what you have observed
Describe visible growth, affected surfaces and any known leak or previous water damage. Tell the recipient whether the issue has returned after prior cleanup. An approximate description is useful; you do not need to disturb materials or enter an unsafe area to obtain measurements.
Discuss the moisture source
Ask how the provider plans to investigate moisture and which source repairs are included. The EPA advises fixing water problems and drying materials. Painting over mold is not a substitute for cleanup. A recurring issue may need work outside the remediation scope, so clarify responsibilities before booking.
Ask what the assessment and quote include
Ask whether the appointment involves visual assessment, moisture investigation, sampling or cleanup. These are different services; find out what is proposed and why. Request a written scope identifying affected areas, materials to be retained or removed, protection of surrounding areas, and completion criteria.
Choose the right kind of help
EPA guidance recommends experienced professional help when water damage involves sewage or other contaminated water. If you have health concerns, discuss them with a health professional. This website cannot assess symptoms, identify mold from a photograph or declare a building safe.
Check qualifications and follow-up directly
Ask the provider about experience with similar work, references and applicable credentials. Find out who addresses an unresolved moisture source and how any follow-up is handled. We do not promise a mold-free property, a particular test result or a guaranteed remediation price.
Common questions
Is mold testing automatically included?
No. Ask whether assessment, sampling and remediation are offered separately, what each would answer, and what fees apply.
Can the referral line arrange crawl space encapsulation?
This site focuses on restoration inquiries, including mold remediation. Foundation repair, encapsulation and general crawl space repair are not offered through this referral line.
